A new contribution to the concept of « responsible journalism » by the European Court of Human Rights

In Bédat v. Switzerland, the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights clarifies the content of the concept of « responsible journalism » which has recently emerged in its jurisprudence. The Court held that journalistic sensationalism was not responsible in the case of news reports, if the tone of the publication contained a mere risk of harming the interests of the criminal proceeding and those of the detainee.
